Cloud & accounts
A hosted account adds the cloud bridge and org connection on top of the free local loop. The public beta is open to everyone — free, no card.
Sign up for the public beta
Sorb is in free public beta. Anyone can create an account and start immediately — no invite, no card required.
Sign-up runs on app.sorbcloud.com. After you create an account, you
land in the dashboard, create your first organization, and Sorb issues an
organization publishable key — the key the plugin (and the React SDK) use to
connect to your team's hosted bridge.
The beta is as-is. It's not generally available yet — expect rough edges and active iteration. During the beta the hosted service stores org/project metadata and short-lived preview payloads. See the Privacy notice and Beta Terms.
Connect the plugin with an org key
You don't have to run a local bridge to use Sorb with a team. In the plugin's
Settings, choose Connect with an org key and paste your
sorb_pk_… publishable key. The plugin resolves the key against the hosted
service and applies the returned bridge configuration — the same mechanism the
React SDK uses.
The other connect paths still work unchanged:
- Local (blank key) — point Settings at your local
sorb dev; no account. - Handshake blob — paste an invite code from
sorb handshake --copy.
See Connect flows for step-by-step instructions.
What's free vs hosted
| | Local loop | Hosted account |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free, no account | Free during the public beta |
| Bridge | sorb dev on your machine | Cloud bridge via org key |
| Team connect | Handshake invite | Org publishable key |
| Data | Stays on your machine | Org/project metadata + short-lived previews |
Pricing
During the public beta, Sorb is free — no card required. Pricing lands at general availability. See the pricing overview.
